Rhodes port - Kolymbia - Tsampika Beach
About The Tour
Make a Kolymbia part of your day while in Rhodes. Combine a visit to the Monastery of the Virgin of Tsampika and the free time at the beach, which takes its name from the mentioned monastery.
Recommended for groups of minimum 10 people and Travel Agencies.
Last minute reservations: We do accept reservations up to 24hrs prior the tour.
After your disembarkation from the ship, you will be welcomed by your escort in the Port of Rhodes. Together you get on board of the fully air-conditioned coach and your day starts.
You will be driven along the east coast of the island for almost 40 and then you reach Kolymbia. Just outside Kolymbia your coach will turn left towards the Holly Monastery of Panagia Tsampika. The road leads half the way up on the hill. From this point on, you will have to walk up the hill, following the 350 steps. On the top of the hill you will find the tiny, Byzantine church, dedicated to Virgin. It’s perched at an altitude of some 240 m featuring some truly spectacular views on the coast, both north over Kolymbia and south over Tsampika beach and all the way to Lindos, which makes the strenuous effort uphill definitely worth a try!
The legend says that praying to Panagia Tsampika, the goddess of fertility on Rhodes makes childless women able to have a child, but they have to walk up the steps barefoot. If the vow works, childless believers name their child Tsampikos, if it is a boy and Tsampika, if it is a girl.
After the visit to the Monastery you will walk way down to your bus, get on board and in a short while you will reach the famous Tsampika beach, which you were admiring just a while ago from the top of the hill.
You will have approx. 2hrs of free time to spend at the beach and to swim in the crystal clear waters of Aegean Sea. The beach is fully organized with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and there are also watersport facilities for those, who prefer more than just swimming. You can also get something to eat while there in a small canteen serving all kinds of snacks.
Your escort will inform you about the meeting point and pick up time to board back on your vehicle for the return trip to the port in time for your ship’s departure.
Get back on board and relax while watching the photographs of the day’s unique snapshots.
