Delos is a sacred island since it was one of the most important worship places in ancient Greece and till today many people claim that a huge energy comes from this magnificent island from which Mykonos derives all its irresistible charm. As your guide talks about its history you will visit the remains of the Temple of Apollo, the Sanctuary of Artemis, the old city, and the theatre and of course you will walk down the famous Lion Street.
Later on you will visit the Archaeological Museum of Delos, where you can admire the Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman sculptures, and a huge collection of vessels and small everyday use items from all these periods.
Afterwards, you will return to Mykonos Chora (old port) and you can stroll through the narrow streets of the city of Mykonos named “sokakia” full of cafés and bars and take photos of the traditional whitewashed houses. You will visit the traditional Fish Market, the magnificent area of Little Venice, the Municipal Hall and the Manto Mavrogenous Square where her statue adorns the square since she was a heroine of the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman. As you continue your tour you will also pass from the famous main shopping street Matoyianni. Of course you will have the chance to take photos under the old famous windmills built in the 16th century.
