7-days Religious Tour – Thessaloniki, Philippi, Kavala, Veria, Kalabaka, Athens

Overview

Let’s start this 7 days religious tour from Greek port city on the Thermaic Gulf of the Aegean Sea, Thessaloniki. Visit Philippi, where the first Christians in Europe were baptized, the “baptisma site” and the “ancient Neapolis” in Kavala, where Saint Paul landed to begin his missionary labors in Europe. Return back to Thessaloniki and enjoy a city tour with White Tower, monuments of Caesar Galerios and the oldest Thessaloniki’s church Rotunda. Continue your tour in district of Jews in Veria; pay a visit to Meteora, a complex of ageless monasteries with priceless historical and religious treasures, standing between Earth and Sky at the top of huge rocks. Following the footsteps of Apostle Paul, we head for Athens. Visit the Ancient Agora, where Apostle Paul preached for the first time the God’s word in front of the Athenians. Of course, you should not miss the opportunity to visit the Acropolis as the last stop before boarding on the plane for return trip. Stay in selected hotels and relax en-route in private deluxe vehicles.

Itinerary

1st day: Thessaloniki
As you arrive in Thessaloniki international airport, you will be met by your guide and start your multi-day tour with an orientation short city tour. You will end up at the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.

2nd day: Philippous – Kavala (FD)
Have your breakfast at the hotel and then depart for the city of Kavala. You will stop in Apollonia and see the place where Saint Paul preached the word of God. Then you will visit Amphipolis and see the new findings of the recent excavations. You will head to Philippi and visit the market and Baptistirion.
You will visit the city of Kavala in the afternoon; admire the church of Saint Nicolas in city center and the monastery of Saint Silas. Take lunch and have free time. Return to Thessaloniki in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Thessaloniki.

3rd day: Thessaloniki (FD)
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel before you depart for a visit to Thessaloniki. Admire the White Tower and the monuments that Caesar Galerios founded, such as Kamara, Galerio’s palace and a huge Church Rotunda. Following, you will be driven to the Ano Poli, where you can admire the old castle of Thessaloniki. Have lunch in one of the restaurants in the city center and then visit the monastery of Osios David. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Thessaloniki.

4th day: Veria (FD)
After your breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for your tour to Veria. You will have a sightseeing tour through the city and also visit the Church of Christ. Have lunch in a selected traditional restaurant and then continue your tour and visit the district of Jews where is located the “Step of Saint Paul” decorated with beautiful mosaics. Then you will return for Thessaloniki to have dinner at the hotel and overnight.

5th day: Thessaloniki – Kalabaka (FD)
Have breakfast at the hotel and then depart for Kalabaka. You will have lunch in a selected local restaurant under the shadow of Mount Pindos and then depart for your visit to the monasteries of Meteora; a unique complex of historical abbeys is built on the edge of stone pillars. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Kalabaka.

6th day: Kalabaka – Athens
You will depart after breakfast for Athens, the capital of Greece in order to visit the ancient temple of Acropolis. In Ancient Agora you will also visit the stand where Saint Paul preached for the first time the God’s word in front of the Athenians. Afterwards, you will enjoy a lunch in Plaka and free time for shopping in the commercial center of Athens. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Athens.

7th day: Athens
After breakfast you will embark on the bus, take a last tour to Athens and head to the airport. End of tour.

Additional Info

• Appropriate clothing should be worn in churches and monasteries (no shorts, no hats; shoulders should be covered).
• Hotel Accommodation Tax (effective from January 1st 2018) is paid directly to the hotel as following: 5* hotels – 4€ per room/per night, 4* – 3€ per room/per night, 3* – 1.5€ per room/per night, 2* and apartments -0.50€ per room/per night.
• Geo Travel reserves the right to accomplish any amendments on regular shore excursions, programs & timings and also abort a specific program/timing during the season. For any previous booked tour/timings which have been cancelled, a new tour program or timing will be suggested as a replacement. If the replacement does not satisfy you, you will be granted with a full refund.

COVID-19 HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES 

At GeoTravel our highest priorities are compliance, environmental protection, health, safety and well-being of our staff and clients.

Our staff and partners are informed and trained in accordance with the guidelines set by Greece’s public health organization (EODY) to meticulously maintain the last hygiene protocols and cleaning procedures.

Our staff always uses personal protective equipment (face masks, shields and optional gloves) and the temperature is monitored daily to ensure a safe travel experience for our clients.

All our vehicles are regularly sanitized and all seats, armrest, sidewalls, overhead bins are intensively cleaned and disinfected between use.

In addition, hand sanitizers are available to travelers and staff before entering the office or the vehicle.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a whisper audio system (for an extra charge) is recommended to be used by all the travelers and the staff in order to keep social distance guidelines.

Terms & Conditions

General Terms of Participation in Organinized Trips

Cancellation of a participant in an organized excursion (group) can be done by the excursionists. However, our office as an “Organizer” is obliged to respect its obligations to its partners (hotel, restaurant, tour guides, other services), which must be compensated in case of cancellations based on the agreements made.

Each organizer has different cancellation terms. The usual line for cancellations is 30 days before the start of the trip the loss of the deposit, and for cancellations 10-15 days before is the loss (and charge) of the total amount.

Our office has the right, in case the account is not paid by the time of departure, to request it by any legal means.

Our office also reserves the right to cancel the trip if there are special reasons for it. In the above cases, no money receipt is accepted, except for the refund of those paid by the excursionist. In special cases (force majeure as evidenced by official government documents) our office will investigate all the possibilities of claiming a refund from the suppliers.

The terms that analyze the refunds and cancellations are completely different for each supplier (hoteliers, transport companies, etc.) and the Traveler must ask to be informed about the cancellation terms of this trip before paying in advance.

In no case can our office be held liable for incomplete information of its customers due to the customer’s negligence to be informed of the terms of the trip it buys. Ask us for detailed information about the travel product before submitting the deposit.

Acceptance of Contents

The participation and payment of advance payment of the excursionists in any excursion of our office, and / or the purchase of any travel product, means the automatic and without any reservation acceptance of all the above conditions.
