About The Tour

Travel back in time through Crete’s rich history on this relaxing and informative tour.

Overview

Departing from the port of Souda, you will travel through the Akrotiri Peninsula, where you will visit the Monastery of Agia Triada, one of the most significant monastic complexes from the late Venetian period. Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, the monastery is renowned for its impressive architecture, peaceful courtyards and its important contribution to Cretan religious and cultural heritage.

Your journey continues to the Tombs of the Venizelos family, an important historic site dedicated to Eleftherios Venizelos—one of Greece’s most influential political figures—and his son Sophocles. Located on a hilltop overlooking the Bay of Chania, the site offers breathtaking panoramic views and excellent photo opportunities.

Next, you’ll pass through the elegant district of Halepa, historically known as the diplomatic and aristocratic area of Chania. This area features beautiful neoclassical mansions and buildings connected to important chapters of Cretan and Greek history.

Arriving in the old town of Chania, you will have time to admire the evocative Venetian Harbour, the old port, and the picturesque alleys filled with shops, local crafts, and waterfront cafes. The atmosphere retains strong influences of Venetian and Florentine architecture, harmoniously blended with the traditions and character of the Cretan people. Observe how the changing light gives the harbor a different charm at every hour of the day.

The tour concludes with a relaxing drive back to the ship in the port of Souda
