Upon you disembarkation you will use the cruise ship’s tender boats to get to the Old port of Fira. From there, you will get on board of small private boats to take you to Athinios, new port of Santorini. Once you are there, a representative of Geo Travel will welcome you at the parking lot. Together you will board on your fully air-conditioned coach to start the day. Make sure your camera is ready from the very start of the tour, which is the volcanic sand Red Beach. The red and black volcanic stone and sand at Red Beach make it one of Santorini’s most photogenic sites. We will continue the tour with the next stop in the lovely, tranquil village of Akrotiri where you can find the well-known lighthouse located on the extreme southwest part of the island. It is considered one of the best and most beautiful lighthouses in the Cyclades. It is well worth a visit as the sight you get to see is pure magic.
Back on the coach, our tour continues to the highest spot of the island (567 meters) located between Pyrgos and Kamari. The Mountain’s name is Profitis Ilias (Prophet Elijah), coming from the Monastery with the same name on its peak. From this vantage point, you will enjoy a striking view of the entire island, from the patchwork agricultural plains to the hilltop village of Oia.
It is time for some rest in the old capital, nowadays traditional picturesque village, Pyrgos. Enjoy your lunch in a Greek taverna or sip your coffee at a kafenio in the center of the village. We will also pay a visit to a local winery with caldera views. The expert staff of the winery will take you for small detailed tour of the winery and you will have a chance to taste local snacks and some of their exceptional wines, like famous fruity Asirtiko, just one to be mentioned.
Then it is time for our return trip with short stops to admire famous blue dome churches of Firostefani, Imerovigli and Oia. In Oia you will meet your escort or guide by the cable cars to enjoy a short ride down to the small prier of Scala. From there you will embark on a tender boat and return to your ship in time for departure.
