Get on the board of your fully airconditioned vehicle to start your trip to the amazing historic Town of Kalavrita.
First stop will be at Diakopto village where you will board on the Rack train of Odontotos. Enjoy a unique one hour train route following the course of Vouraikos River through the mountains. The Diakopto – Kalavrita rack railway and the memorable ride through Vouraikos gorge consist one of the most beautiful natural paths in Greece. It is also known as the most impressive railway route among the Balkans.
When you arrive back at the historic town of Kalavrita, our driver will meet you again to continue your tour to the mysterious, magnificent and unique “Cave of the Lakes” in Kastria, a rare creation of Mother Nature. Small and large lakes, 13 in total, each one with different color.
You will admire the wonderful hanging bridge, waterfalls falling and you will have the feeling of being on a floating corridor. You can also admire stalactite formation. In the winter when the snow melts, the cave is transformed into a subterranean river with natural waterfalls. The cave’s explored length is 1980 meters. The developed part of the cave is currently 500 meters long. You will start to explore the cave through an artificial tunnel that leads you directly to the second floor. The passage of the lakes is made by elevated artificial bridges.
After this fascinating visit, you will head back to the gorgeous village of Kalavrita with its breathtaking natural beauty. You will have some free time either for shopping, a cup of coffee at a kafenio or lunch in one of the local traditional taverns.
On our way back we will have a short stop at the village of Tripotama, the last high-light of our tour.
Tripotama (meaning three rivers) was built at the meeting point of three rivers, Erymanthos, Aroanios and Seiraios, which join together and continue to form the Erymanthos River. Remains of the Ancient town and Acropolis of Psofida have been found at this location.
