After your disembarkation in the port of Heraklion you will be welcomed by your professional guide.You will drive through the Mirabello Mountains area before reaching your first destination, the Church of Panagia Kera.
On your way, you will make a stop to admire the magnificent view of the Bay and the historical island of Spinaloga which is across. This small rocky island has a huge history since at first it used to hold the strongest Venetian fortresses , later on it was used as a refuge for Christians during the Ottoman era and finally, between 1912 and 1958, the island served as a sanatorium for the lepers of Crete.
We will continue with a visit to the Byzantine Church of Panagia Kera which was built between the 13thand 14th centuries. The remarkable of this church is that the frescoes date back to the 14th and 15th century and there are 14 scenes which picture the secret life of the Virgin Mary after Christ’s Crucifixion and Resurrection.
Afterwards you will visit the village of Kritsa. This scenic village built at the foothills of a rocky mountain at an altitude of more than 365 meters above sea level is very famous due to the fact that it is center to the Cretan folk and weaving art. Take advantage of your free time and walk around this scenic village where you can go for a refreshment or buy some souvenirs.
Your final stop will be at the international cosmopolitan resort of Agios Nicolaos. It joins the sea with a narrow canal, while the natural surroundings of red rocks and trees make it a magnet for visitors.Take the advantage of your free time to walk around, relax and shop some souvenirs of traditional Cretan art, copies of objects from various Archaeological Museums, jewelry, embroidery and more.
You will return to your boat full of memories and experiences of Cretan life.
